Your CO has full authority to say....NO....you get 5 days off of work then report to duty. Hate to be in the CO's shoes that goes against Dr's orders.

also my experience would say to hold off on any back surgery for as long as you can. I had two back to back along with surgery on my hip, leg and wrist. It wasn't pleasant and it was a long recovery.
